Based on these requirements and the technical possibilities, you contribute as a professional to the development of a commercially attractive proposal that enables a successful collaboration with the customer.
The Sales Engineer is the linchpin of the commercial process, translating customer needs into technical solutions that map out the performance of offered systems, the customer’s investment, and the returns for DMT. This ensures our company can make commercial offers that are attractive to both the customer and our own organisation.
The tasks of a Sales Engineer
Participate in sales meetings with Area Sales Managers and the Service Manager to assess enquiries, distribute workload, and recommend the best approach for each project
Map customer wishes and needs into a concrete problem definition and, where possible, a standard CTO solution
Configure detailed technical designs through process simulations, equipment selection, and solution comparisons, taking CAPEX and OPEX into account
Price designs in cost calculations, summarise scope, request supplier quotes, and incorporate all design and commercial details into quotations
Advise Area Sales Managers on proposed solutions, provide supporting documents such as flow diagrams and layouts, and close deals with continuous support throughout the sales and contract phase
Maintain templates, share knowledge across departments, and contribute to internal development projects to grow personal and team effectiveness
Job requirements & background
A degree in chemical, process, or mechanical engineering, or a related field, with 2–10 years of experience in similar roles preferably in related sectors
An independent and proactive attitude, enabling you to work autonomously and tackle technical challenges effectively
Strong communication and presentation skills, translating technical insights into customer-friendly solutions
Commercial acumen, balancing technical feasibility against business objectives
Flexibility and adaptability, thriving in a fast-changing environment
Good command of both Dutch and English

The Sales Engineer possesses both technical (process)knowledge and commercial skills to share knowledge with potential clients, clarify demands and make inventory of relevant factors that influence the progress and the end result. Being the technical expert in sales meetings, the Sales Engineer works together with the Area Sales Managers.
With a critical mindset, the Sales Engineer in collaboration with team members, ensures continuous improvement of department tools and processes. The position has a unique role within the organization, to shape our future towards sustainable standard modular configurations, which are configured during the sales phases.
