The Area Sales Manager performs a leading role in the realization of DMT sales objectives for assigned target markets, products and services for the assigned region. He or she is responsible for reaching the established agreed upon targets and goals set by the CCO for the assigned region.
The tasks of a Area Sales Manager
Oversees the development of business plans and creates strategies for a specific product or target market in the assigned geographical area;
Conducts, together with the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), sales forecasts to determine company financial objectives and target markets for a product/service;
Visits existing and potential clients to offer products/services and to elaborate on product features;
Contacts existing and potential customers via cold calls, emails, and arranged meetings to secure sales deals and contracts;
Is responsible for maintaining the CRM system by updating it with current and potential customer information, inputting sales records and customer accounts, and preparing account profiles for company accounts.
Monitors sales and profit for each account;
Evaluates, adjusts and assesses contracts according to the company policies.
Presents periodic reports to the CCO on sales operations;
Conducts research to identify new sales opportunities, new product opportunities and trending consumer needs;
Is aware of competitive activities within major accounts and of competing technologies, market changes and market opportunities;
Establishes and maintains relationships with suppliers, agents and other partners where necessary;
Continues the account management for customers after the project is closed.
Job requirements & background
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science and/or business-related discipline. Credentials from a commercial sales training program is a plus.
Minimum of 5 years sales experience; Working experience within the following industries is a plus: Biogas/Anaerobic Digestion, Waste/Wastewater Treatment, Oil & Gas or Agriculture.
Proven experience in contract management, bid management, commercial discussions on bids and tenders is required.
Experience in sales with a successful track record in the capital markets and a proven record of effectively achieving sales targets.
Having a strong technical background in the direction of Process engineering and/or cooling technologies, e.g., refrigeration, thermodynamics.
Excellent communication skills in Dutch, English with excellent presentation skills. Mastering a third language (German or Spanish) is a preference.
First class consultative sales skills.
Having an existing network in the Biogas Sector will be a plus.
Experience with project management and commissioning will be a highly appreciated added advantage.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Willing and able to travel up to 25% of the time within your specific area.
